Urban Strolls Bracelet Tutorial

I was exploring bugle beads lately, and these two are one of the new patterns I created using them.

Urban Strolls is a relatively soft bracelet made with  2x6 and 2x3 uniform bugle beads and with Japanese seed beads. The bracelet can be made in different widths and of course, lengths, using different types of accent beads.

The tutorial is available (only) in my Etsy shop

Another bracelet project with bugles is coming soon, so stay tuned ;-)

Festoon Fancy Bracelet

I have a box of unfinished projects - most of them are experiments of ideas that needed to be worked on further. I started many years ago and, got stuck, put it in that UFO box and forgot all about it.

In order to get myself beading as I used to, I sometimes go through my boxed of beads to wake up my inspiration and I found this bracelet base design. As it happens sometimes when you revisit a project, an idea or a solution that helps you go on with it pops up, just like that.... So much joy when it happens!

So here's the finished project - Festoon Fancy Bracelet - three variations of the many it can offer: wide with Swarovski crystals, wide with Tila beads and narrower with just seed beads .

The tutorial for it is listed in my Etsy shop.

Shirring Rows Bracelet

I didn't have much patience to go through my bead stash (too much on my mind right now), so I decided to bead something with just seed beads. You know, like we used to do many years ago, when there was a small variety of beads in the market... Do you believe how far we've gone since then?....

This is Shirring Rows bracelet, a very textured one, like I love to design. In the tutorial I wrote for Shirring Rows, I included instructions for a combination of techniques to end the bracelet in a symmetrical way, which you can use in other beading projects that involves Herringbone or Ladder stitches.
Hope you like it!

Freeform Just For Fun

When I want to bead something of my own just for relaxation, but can't put my mind to set on Designing Mode, I like to make freeform creations.

I beaded this bracelet some time ago, while recovering from fatigue in bed, enjoying the ability that freeform beading allows you to do so. The cabochon button was beaded "normally"- sitting by my working table, though...

I used a bead mix of some leftovers to make this bracelet. As I always say: every bead finds its destiny, just be patient...

Stay safe you all!

Meandering Cuff Bracelet

Meandering - Pattern by Carol Dean Sharpe / Sandfibers

The second I saw it, I immediately fell in love with the geometric pattern of this bracelet. It is called "Meandering", designed by Carol Dean Sharpe of SandFibers. And if you prefer to work with loom or square stitch, there's a pattern for that too.

From someone who usually find it hard to follow a pattern, surprisingly (or not) this one was so fun to follow and see how it builds as you bead...

The clasp I designed for it is a bezeled rectangular Swarovski Hotfix stone that I bought years ago, and now was the right time to finally use it...

Beading Love

I want to share with you some of my thoughts.
As part of a therapeutic process I'm going through, I was given some questions to think of and answer: Why does beading fill and energize me so much and why do I really love it? What will happen if I stop beading completely?
I came to creating with beading just by chance. I instantly and intuitively felt that something about working with beads touched me deeply, in a very special way.
I listened to the inner call and taught myself all I could about this field. Designing with beads became a great love and later a profession.
More than once I asked myself, trying to understand, why creating with beads caught me so strongly for such a long time, compared to other mediums that I tried working with, then stopped, then tried again, then left behind for another time...
What is it about the wonderful beads that fascinate me so much?
Beads come in many kinds of shapes, colors, finishes, different sizes and other characteristics that distinguish them from each other. But they all have one common characteristic - there is something in them that makes it possible to connect them to others -
If there is a hole to pass through, it can be woven with needle and thread.
If it has no hole or it's a flat back - it can be sewn on fabric or glued onto something.
If it has a small scratch or a sharp edge - it can be bezeled or placed in a setting that allows it to show its beauty nonetheless...
Sometimes what seems to be a flaw or disadvantage turns out to be an advantage.
Beads are fragile, so they require delicacy and attention in working with them. But the variety and flexibility of ways we can treat them is what enables us to preserve the identity and uniqueness of each one of them and still connect them to create something much larger and more beautiful than themselves...
Each bead has a place and a role in the structure of the whole bead work. Each bead will project its beauty on its own and will reflect the beauty of the one that is connected to it.
So why is bead work so important to me?
Because beads for me are like a human beings – diverse and different in their qualities and characteristics, but each person has a place and a contribution in our world ...
People showing their characteristics in different ways create a stronger, larger and more beautiful human living-fabric together...
Because beading for me represents my need to connect, to find and express my unique inner voice and characteristics, while integrating with people who may be different from me...
Because creating with beads for me is an expression of love!…
So it's true that I haven't designed or created something new in a long long time. But you don't just give up on something that you so deeply love so easily. So I wait.....

With Love,

Smadar

Free Tutorial - Deco Duo Pendant or Earrings

It's been a long long time since I created and posted something new. Too long, that I almost thought I will never get back to designing again.  I'm glad I was wrong....

Many months ago I received some Diamond Duo beads from Bead Master USA to design something with, and this pendant (or earrings) is what I made with them, combining Kheops par Puca triangle beads, Swarovski crystal bicone beads and Japanese seed beads.

This design works well also if you want use size 8/0 Japanese seed beads instead of the crystal bicone beads.

Bronze version made with size 8/0 JP s/b
and GemDuo beads

I'm posting this free pattern for you to download and enjoy!
(* the tutorial images background is transparent, that's why they look odd.
You need to save the images or print them)

Happy Beading!

New Beading Kit - Gazing Stars Bracelet

Created in the end of 2015, after 18 months of delay I finally managed to create my first beading kit. This is Gazing Stars bracelet, made with Japanese seed beads and Swarovski crystal stones and beads.

The beautiful name of the bracelet was suggested over Facebook by my friend Renne Drake, who is lucky to get a kit from me as a thank you gift. Thanks again, Renne!

At the moment there's only a limited number of kits in each color pallette. The kit includes all Japanese seed beads, Swarovski crystal beads and components that are needed, a clasp and a printed tutorial. Other things needed and aren't included are: 6lb fireline beading thread, beading needles and scisosrs.

As I said, this is the first kit I offer, so if you have any questions or remarks, please leave your comment or contact me directly.

Happy Beading!
